Graded Competition Bookings
Ahead of the club graded competition starting tomorrow arranged by Dave Palmer, we wanted to give some clarity around court bookings for matches
The schedule is fixed, matches must be played over the next few evenings and players should be at the club ready for the start of their match according to the allocated time.
Designated courts are flexible though, so if booking ahead please book any court that will likely give you enough time to play your full game. Matches are allocated 40 minutes on the schedule so if your game is likely to overrun, book a court that gives you more time to finish - it doesn't have to be court 1 or 2.
As the club is not covering court fees, we want to avoid any overrunning of clashes with subsequent matches and therefore anyone losing out on court time that they have paid for.
The alternative it to ensure you are at the club ahead of your match start time, then book your court when you are ready to start on. Any NEW non competition bookings for courts 1 & 2 will likely be moved to another court to allow for this flexibility.
Finally, with the recently announced court cost increases and closed loopholes with the addition of the new lighting system it may seem that Squash and Tennis is becoming more and more expensive. Like everything at present, costs are rising - the price rise is simply to cover this increase and protect the short and long term future of the club. The initial results of the implementation of the new lighting functionality are good.
We want to reassure members that we will constantly assess costs, invest in the club and review court fees to find a balance between the cost of play and protecting the club through these tough economic times
