An important message from club squash coach Curtis Corby

Dear members!

Unfortunately, I’m writing this to give you some sad news! I will be leaving the club in September and will no longer be coaching at Newton Abbot. A job has been offered to me that is an incredible opportunity for me personally and professionally! One that I frankly couldn’t turn down! As you all know Newton abbot is my second home and some might argue my first! This was an incredibly huge decision and one that I didn’t take lightly! I want to take this time to personally thank everyone who has had sessions with me or attended anything I’ve run over the past 12 months! I’ve loved every bit of it and you have all played a huge part in my development as a coach! I also want to thank the club for their support with me! I will not be a stranger at the club that’s for sure! But I am very excited about what the future is for me now!

My last week will be week commencing 5th September, so if you have any lessons in credit with me they will need to be used by then please ??

Once again I thank you all and the club so much for everything you’ve done for me since I joined at 14 years old! You will all be missed!

Many thanks
Curtis

Our very best wishes go to Curtis with his move to be full-time Coach for Squash and Racketball at Exeter D&E from September 12. It is a great opportunity for him as he further develops his coaching career, and although we are obviously very sorry to see him go, we are thrilled for him and wish him every success in his new role.

Curtis taking on the coaching at Newton Abbot over the last year has been a great success. His knowledge and skills, together with his boundless energy and enthusiasm, have been massively beneficial for the club. He has brought many new initiatives to Newton Abbot, including completely revitalising our club nights, attracting world-class players to play exhibition matches and train at the club, and putting on several great social events. We’ve got a lot of work to do to make sure these keep going. Please be reassured that we are already looking at the best ways to make sure that none of Curtis’ initiatives fall by the wayside! Happily, we shall still see Curtis around, as he plans to keep his membership at Newton so that he can continue to enjoy the social side of his home club.

From all at Newton Abbot, we wish you all the best of luck in your new job Curtis!
