Squash and RB Committee update

Hi everyone,

your club committee felt it would be good to let you know what we’ve been up to since our devolution on May 1!

We’ve been focussed on how we take the club forward to provide you with the best possible club experience. To bring focus to our vision for the club, we’ve developed the attached mission statement.

This has led us to the following actions:

Seeking a full-time coach
We are looking for a coach to further develop our junior programme and provide coaching opportunities for all club members. The coach will be self- funding and a job description has been posted on the England Squash website.

Develop stronger relationships with local schools.
It’s just a start but we are in discussion with two local schools who have expressed interest in offering squash as part of their sports programme.

Ladies morning
Sharon and Denise are looking to set up a ladies only morning for Squash and Racketball.

Court refurbishment
The next step in our court facilities improvement programme is to give Courts 1 & 5 a makeover at the end of September including a new floor for Court 5. So look out, we’ll soon be calling for volunteers to help us remove the old floor as we did for Court 2 last year!

Club sponsorship
We’re looking to develop a new club logo and then seek sponsorship opportunities for team shirts, etc.

Increase Membership
A key objective for the committee is to increase membership numbers which have remained very steady over the past year. Increased membership making full use of our facilities and all that the Rec has to offer is key to the club’s long-term sustainability. Our club nights / RB mornings are good contributors to encouraging new members and more social media exposure would be great if we could find a resource to provide that support, but by far the biggest impact is through word of mouth from yourselves as ambassadors of the club. Anything you can do here would be really good.

Please let us know if you have any comments or questions and thanks for your on-going support.

All best wishes,

Tim
