Squash and Tennis Courts - The New Lights System

Hi all,

As a follow-up to the e-mail earlier today regarding the club being closed for the works to link the lights to the court booking system, we have been able to arrange for the squash court lights to be left on for Monday evening from 4pm. However there could be disruption to the lights between between 9.30am and 4pm on the Monday / Tuesday and for the Tennis Courts also on Monday evening. Hopefully, with the light evenings this time of year, tennis will not be impacted.

Once the work has been completed, you will be charged for the lights at the time of booking and the cost per 40-minute court session will be increased from £1.80 to £2 for the court (during peak times) and to £2 for the lights. These fees have not been increased for several years so hopefully, you’ll find this small increase reasonable. Off-peak squash court booking will remain free of charge but you will still need to book in order to pay the £2 for the lights. Tennis members will only pay for lights when required and this will be based on pre-loaded sunrise / sunset data in the system.

With this change, the current light card system will become non-operational so please use up your credit in good time!

Also with this change, there will be no need for over-ride keys, so anyone in possession of a key should hand it in to any member of the bar staff, the club committee, or Paul in the office.

We’ve also reviewed our court booking policy. Members are expected to book a court when intending to play except for the following:

Individual/group sessions with our coaches (Maddie and Curtis).
Junior group sessions
Interclub team matches
Club sessions open to non-members designed to bring in new members (e.g. Monday night squash).
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact one of the club committee members or reply to this e-mail.

Thank you
